Questions
Electrical questions
What should I do if I smell burning or see sparks?
If you see smoke or flames, get everyone out and call 911 first. If the burning smell, buzzing, or heat is coming from the panel itself, stay away from it and call your power utility. When it is one outlet, switch, or fixture, you can shut that circuit off at the panel and stop using it. Then send us your request so a local electrician can take a look.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
A breaker trips to cut power when something is wrong, so it is doing its job. Common causes are too much load on one circuit, a short in the wiring, a failing appliance, or a worn breaker. An electrician can test the circuit to find which one it is.
Do I need a permit for electrical work?
It depends on your city or county and the size of the job. Panel changes, new circuits, and rewiring usually need a permit and an inspection, while swapping a light fixture often does not. The electrician you hire can tell you what your area requires.
How much will my electrical job cost?
We cannot quote a price because we do not do the work. Cost depends on the job, the condition of your wiring, local labor rates, and whether a permit is needed. Ask each pro who contacts you for their own written estimate before work starts.
Does GetMatchedPro do the electrical work?
No. We are not an electrical contractor and we do not touch wiring. Your description goes to independent electricians working in your area, and they contact you directly. You decide who to hire and what to pay.
