How much does it cost to take down a tree?
Their number, not ours. Height and reach move it, and so does whether a truck can get near the trunk. Ask what the price covers before anyone starts cutting.
Is the stump included when the tree comes down?
No, not by default. Grinding the stump is its own line on the quote, and some crews bring a separate machine back for it. Write it in your note so the pros who call can price the whole job.
A limb is on the power line. Who do I call?
Your electric utility, first. They own the wires and handle what is touching their equipment, and if a line is down or sparking, call 911 before anything else. A tree pro takes the rest of the tree once the line is clear.
When should a tree get pruned?
By species, mostly. Shade trees get cut back in late winter while they are dormant, and spring bloomers go right after the flowers drop. A dead or hanging limb is different, and that one comes down whenever you spot it.
Who shows up with the chainsaw?
A crew you hire yourself. Independent tree and landscaping outfits working your area read your note and decide whether to call, and the contract is between you and whichever one you say yes to. We are not on that paperwork.
