Plumbing questions
How soon will a plumber call?
Plumbers call when their day allows, and that clock is theirs. Not ours. If water is still moving, close the fixture valve or the main and leave it closed until someone looks at it.
Who sets the price for the repair?
The plumber does. Ask on the call, before anybody opens a cabinet or cuts drywall, because a slip joint under a sink and a pinhole behind a wall are nowhere near the same job. We never set that number.
Should I shut the water off first?
Yes. Close the stop under the fixture, or the main where the line enters the house, and leave it closed until a plumber has looked at it. Note where that valve sits so you can point at it.
Does GetMatchedPro send its own plumber?
No. Independent local plumbers do the work and set their own price. Whatever you agree to is between you and that plumber, and looking into who they are before they start is your call to make.
What will the plumber ask me first?
Where and how long. The age of the fixture or the water heater helps, and so does whatever you already tried with a wrench or a plunger. Have a photo of the wet cabinet floor if they want one.
